Lantern slide depicting the inner gates of Birr Castle, Birr, Co. Offaly. Originally titled 'BirrCastle Inner Gate' written directly on the slide and labelled 'K4 19'. The image depicts the interior gate of Birr Castle. The gates are also known as the Keep Gate, and were designed by Mary Rosse, Countess of Rosse wife of the Third Earl of Rosse, William Parsons, a mid-19th-century building marking the transition from the park to the castle grounds. At the crest of the gate there is a coat of arms.
