Beschrijving
Lantern slide of a drawing of Dublin Castle, Dublin. Orignally labeled 'D3 IV 46' and without a title. After the Noman invasion of 1169, it is believed that the Normans built a motte and bailey on the site of the present castle. There is evidence to suggest it was there as fare back as the 1170's. In 1204, King John of England ordered the construction of a larger castle on site. Pictured in the Record Tower - th oldest surving medieval tower of the castle and all of Dublin. During the Tudor period, it acted as a high sucurity prison. Today, the Garda Museum occupies the space.
