Lantern slide of memorial celebrations for the Treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle, Dublin. Originally labeled 'D3 IV 44' and without a title. Inscribed under the drawing is 'The Perspective View of the Illuminations and Fire-Works, to be Exhibited at St. Stephen's Green at Dublin in Ireland on the Thanksgiving Day for the General Peace Concluded at Aix la Chapelle 1748.' This treaty marked the end of the War of the Austrian Succession. It was signed on 18th October 1748 by France, Great Britain, and the Dutch Republic. As Ireland was under British rule during this time, it too would have celebrated memorial days such as these. In the drawing there are many people gathered around St. Stephen's Green where there are a number of fireworks set up for the celebrations.
