Descrição
Lantern slide of St. Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin. Originally labeled 'D3 IV 43' and without a title. St. Patrick's Cathedral is one of the largest cathedrals in Ireland. Originally located on the site was a church and holy well used by St. Patrick for baptisms. The cathedral we see today was founded by Archbishop John Comyn in 1192. A university was founded at St. Patrick's in the early 14th century which continued until the end of the 15th century. After a fire destroyed the tower in 1362, the cathedral fell into a bad state of repair in the subsequent centuries. It wasn't until the late 17th century when Sir Benjamin Guinness funded the restoration, that the cathedral was repaired and brought back to its former glory.
