Description

Lantern slide depicting drawings of the windows in Roscommon Abbey, Co. Roscommon. Originally titled 'ROSCOMMON ABBEY: Windows' and labelled 'R 32'. The slide depicts two windows and small sketches of the cloister capital in the abbey. The original lancet windows in the abbey, dating to its construction in 1253, were replaced in the 15th century by traceried windows in the east and west walls. The drawings in the slide depict a conjectural resotation of the windows as they might have been. The rest of Roscommon Abbey monument has been largely destroyed.
