Description
Lantern slide of an illustration of Grattan Bridge ( known historically as Essex Bridge) Co. Dublin. Originally catalogued with labels 'D3VII 95' and 'Old Dublin. Old Essex Bridge.' Depicts an illustration of the bridge as it would have appeared circa the mid to late 1700s, with carriages and figures visible on the street leading on to the bridge. The bridge was originally built in 1676, rebuilt in 1753, and remodelled again in 1872. When it reopened in 1874 it was renamed Grattan Bridge.
