Lantern slide of an interior in Newman House, Co. Dublin. Originally catalogued with labels "No. 86 St Stephen's Green. Inner Hall " and "D3XI" and "54." Depicts a close-up view of an interior ceiling in the inner hall of number 86. The ceiling is vaulted and decorated with plasterwork foliage and swags, with bordering friezes as well. Newman House (which consists of houses 85 and 86 Stephen's Green) was the original location of the Catholic University of Ireland, and was named for Dr. John Henry Newman who was rector of the university. The University was founded in 1854 and was the precursor of University College Dublin.
