Lantern slide of an interior in Newman House, Co. Dublin. Originally catalogued with labels "No 86 Stephen's Green. Staircase 1765" and "D3XI" and "53." Depicts a close-up view of an interior staircase, with a view of both the walls and ceiling. Intricate rococo stucco work is visible, depicting foliage, musical instruments, and with friezes bordering them. Newman House (which consists of houses 85 and 86 Stephen's Green) was the original location of the Catholic University of Ireland, and was named for Dr. John Henry Newman who was rector of the university. The University was founded in 1854 and was the precursor of University College Dublin.
