Description
Lantern slide of a monumental stone, Inchagoill, Co. Galway. Originally labeled as 'Inchagoil.' Located next to Teampall Phaidrig, this obelistic pillar contains one of the earliest recorded Christian inscriptions in Ireland. It has two crosses on the west, south and east sides along with one on the north face. On the east face of the monument is an inscription written in the Uncial of old Latin character. It reads - "Lia Lugnaedon Macc Lmenueh" which translates to - "The standing stone of Lugnad Son of Limanin."
