Description
Lantern slide of a detail of a map of Dublin City. Originally labeled 'D3 27' and without a title. The slide is taken of a well known map by John Rocque who spent a short time in Dublin whilst producing maps of the city. This map is one of his firsts, dated to 1757, it is titled 'Exact Survey of the City and Suburbs of Dublin'. This side shoes a detail of 'Leeson's Walk', a steet that ran by the side of St. Stephen's Green. It is now known simply as 'Stephen's Green'.In later maps he wrote a guide offering advice and information on the local people of Dublin.
