Description

Lantern slide depicting an aerial view of the excavation site at Lug, Co. Offaly. Originally titled 'LUG-OFFALY A.Carroll Dublin' and labelled 'K4 27'. The image depictes is an arieal view of a handdrawn image of the excavation site. The excavation site consisted of a number of prehistoric burials, with human remains found in various cists, under the cairn it was placed in. The excavation was undertaken by the Royal Antiquarian Society of Ireland, by Micheal O Duigeannain. The exact location of the excavation site could not be determined. The image itself depicts an overview of the excavation site. The cair was approx. 65 feet in diamater. There were multpile burial chambers and remains found in the site, both human an non-human origin.
