Beschreibung

Lantern slide depicting an inscribed slab from Clonmacnoise, Co. Offally. Originally titled 'CROSS.SLABS.CLONMACNOISE T. MASON, 5, Dame Street, Dublin.' and labelled 'K4 15'. The image depicts various fragments from different graveslabs from the Clonmacnoise Monestary ruins. As Clonmacnoise was a favored spot for Kings and dignitaries in Ireland in the 6th to 7th century, many of the gravestones are inscribed with their name. There are over 700 in Clonmacnoise and only a selection of them are depicted in this image. The stones are now kept in a visitor centre in Clonmacnoise. The partial slide depicts a celtic cross engraving, with a name that could be O'Rourke.
