Lantern slide depicting a high cross in Clones, Co. Monaghan. Originally without a title and labelled 'M3 1'. The cross depicted is a sandstone cross, from the tenth century. It is located in front of Tiernachs Church of Ireland.The head of one cross and the shaft of aother were combined to create the monument. The cross was found in the remains of the Monestary at Clones founded by St Tighernach in the sixth century. Since the time the image was taken, railings have been put in place to surrond the cross.
