Lantern slide showing a drawing of Kilkenny, Co. Kilkenny. Originally labelled 'K3 96' and titled 'City of Kilkenny.' The drawing was made by Francis Place in 1699. Kilkenny Castle and it's grounds and mills can be seen. To the right of the Castle, St. Mary's Church and the New Tholsel can be seen. Maudlin Castle and Gate, the ground of Kilkenny College, the Black Friar's Priory, or the Black Abbey, St. Canice's Cathedral, or Kilkenny Cathedral, and the ruins of St. Francis' Abbey can also be seen. The slide can be seen on Plate XII in Volume 4, Number 1, published June 30, 1934 in the Journal of the Royal Society of Antiquaries of Ireland.
