Depicts an illustrated map of St. Patrick's Cathedral and it's surrounding area. An inscription on the image reads 'Map of the Ancient Surroundings of the Cathedral Church of St Patrick de Insula Dublin, traceablein the 18th Century, chiefly compiled from Kendrick's maps 1750 in Marsh's Library, Bocque's map of Dublin 1753, and the Ordnance Survey by Thomas Drew F.R.S.A Ireland.' The area of the cathedral is called a 'liberty', a term referring to areas of town land with their own jurisdiction, St. Patrick's Cathedral Liberty dates back to medieval times when ecclesiastical bodies had rights of self-governance.
