Lantern slide of Carlisle Bridge (now known as O'Connell Bridge) Co. Dublin. Originally catalogued with labels 'D3VII 94' and 'Carlisle Bridge.' Depicts a view of the bridge with pedestrians and carriages walking along it, and a cargo boat visible on the river beneath it. Carlisle Bridge was named for the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, the 5th Earl of Carlisle, and was designed by James Gandon. The bridge was built between 1791-1794, reconstructed in the late 1800s and finally reopened in circa 1882, renamed O'Connell Bridge after Daniel O'Connell.
