Lantern slide of an illustration of Carlisle Bridge (now known as O'Connell Bridge) Co. Dublin. Originally catalogued with label 'D3VII 93.' Depicts an illustration of Carlisle Bridge as it would have looked in the 18th century. The drawing depicts the bridge, with a ship and the custom house visible in the background. A note on the drawing reads 'Carlisle Bridge.' The bridge was named for the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, the 5th Earl of Carlisle, and was designed by James Gandon. The bridge was built between 1791-1794, reconstructed in the late 1800s and finally reopened in circa 1882, renamed O'Connell Bridge after Daniel O'Connell.
