Description
Lantern slide of Daly's Club House, Dublin. Originally labeled 'D3 IV 38' and with the title 'Daly's Club. College Green. End of 18th Cent.' Daly's Club House was a gentlemen's club which operated between 1750 and 1823. As it was the centre of political and social life during these periods, a number of members who belonged to the Irish Parliament, paid for a new club house in 1790. It was then located at no. 3 College Green - close to the Irish Parliament. The new building was desiged by Francis Johnston and was opened in February 1791. The slide depicts a sketch of the exterior of the club house, which would have taken up parts of Anglesey St. to Foster Place.
