Beskrivelse

Lantern slide of a portal tomb, Howth. Originally labeled 'D3 II 84' and with the title 'Dolmen Howth 1921.' Also know as "Aideen's Grave" this portal tomb lies close to Howth Castle. The entrance is located at the SE side which leads into a single chamber. It gets the name "Aideen's Grave" from the folklore stating it was the burial place of Aideen the wife of Oscar the son of Oisin. This once impressive Megalithic structure, has buckled due to its 68-tonne weight.
