Description
Lantern slide of Dunsoghly Castle, Co. Dublin. Originally catalogued with labels "-illegible- Cas Chapel from -illegible-" and "D3XI 89" and "Thomas H. Mason, 5-6, Dame St., Dublin." Depicts a full view of the castle, with a figure standing on a small scaffolding structure at the base of the wall. Dunsoghy Castle is a 15th century fortified tower house, the only one in Ireland to retain its orignal trussed roof. It was built by Sir Thomas Plunkett, and was occupied by his descendants until the 1870s. The castle's chapel is dated to 1537.
