Description

Lantern slide of Killiney Church, Co. Dublin. Originally labeled 'D3 III 29' and with the title '2022. Old Killiney Church.' This church has been dated to the eleventh century, although it is thought that it may have been occupied from the sixth century as an ecclesiastical settlement. The original structure would have consisted of a simple nave and choir connected by a semi-circular arch. Pictured is a doorway located on the north wall. It differs greatly to the door on the west gable - it is much larger and is chamfered to the exterior.
