Beschrijving

Lantern slide of Dalkey Castle, Co. Dublin. Originally labeled 'D3 III 20' and with the title 'Dalkey.' Built in the late 15th century, this is one of the seven tower houses of Dalkey. Its defensive features include a machicolation, a murder hole, slit windows and battlements. The castle eventually went by then name Goat Castle, given to it by an Anglo-Norman merchant family who were associated with the building in the 17th century. In the slide the Church of the Assumption is just visible behind the tower house.
