Description

Lantern slide of Swords Castle, Co. Dublin. Originally labeled 'D3 III 4' and with the title 'Swords.' This castle was built c. 1200 as the residence of the Archbishop of Dublin. Pictured is a group of men and women standing in front of the entrance of the castle. Located in the south, it consists of a gated archway with rectangular towers marking each side.. The site spans one and a third acres which is encased in a curtain wall.
