Description

Lantern slide of Powerscourt House, Dublin. Originally labeled 'D3 III 50' and with the title 'Powerscourt House.' Powerscourt House was built for Richard Wingfield who was the third Viscount Powerscourt. It was built between 1771-4 and was designed by Richard Cassels. No expense was spared during its design, with famous artists and craftsmen being commissioned. The hallway and landing are decorated in rococo style and the ceilings are in neo-classical style. The house is unique as it shows the transition from rococo style to neo-classical. The slide depicts an elaborately decorated door.
