Opis

Lantern slide of a church, Kiltiernan, Co. Dublin. Originally labeled 'D3 III 46' with the title 'Kiltiernan Co. Dublin.' This ancient church has been in ruins since at least 1622, there is also mention of it in the Down Survey where it is mentioned to only have walls. Features in the church such as the round-headed east window and the doorways with a horizontal lintel stone, suggest that church is of the 6th, 7th and 8th centuries. There is no chancel in the church, a characteristic of the early churches. The south door is in the Gothic style, and it can be dated to the end of the 12th century. Located in the church is a font (DU026-020003-), that also dates to ancient times. In the slide a man is seen sitting next to the church. A cross is visible which belongs to the graveyard (DU026-020002-) next to the church.
