Description

Lantern slide of a high cross, Galoon, Co. Fermanagh. Originally labeled '41 F' and without a title. It is believed that St. Tiernan founded the monastery on the island. There was once four High Crosses located in the graveyard, but only two shafts remain. All sides of the crosses are highly decorated, but over time have been greatly weather damaged. The slide shows a side view of the West Cross. It is believed to depict Noah's Ark, The Sacrifice of Isaac and The Three Hebrew Children in the Fiery Furnace.
