Description

Lantern slide of Clochan na Carraige, Inishmore, Co. Galway. Originally labeled as '86 G' with title 'Clochan a' Cairge, Aran. B.9.' This national monument is the best preserved clochan (dry stone house) on the island. Dating from the early Christian period, the cloghan is rectangular in shape with two doorways and a corbelled (beehive) roof. Pictured in the slide is a group of men and women, once of which is standing above the clocan.
