Description
Lantern slide of 64 Eccles Street, Dublin. Originally labeled 'D3 55' with title '64 Eccles Street, Dublin 1st floor interior.' No. 64 is an 18th century Georgian terraced house with an annexe to the south designed by Francis Johnston. Other additions by Johnston are the mews and landsaping in the garden and an octagonal roofed structure to the rear. The house has a rich history and was home to Johnston, the leading Irish architect of his time, as well as Isaac Butt. In the 20th century it provided refuge for the poor. The interior of the builder is richely decorated in the slide with glass display cases and soid wood cabinets.
