Drawing of the Old Courts of Justice, Dublin, Ireland

Opis

Lantern slide of a drawing of the old location of the Courts of Justice Ireland. Originally labeled 'D3 28' and without a title. The slide itself is labeled 'Fig. 3. Inside View of the Old Courts of Justice Dublin'. The Four Courts as we know it today only found its home in 1775 with a decision made to house the city's legal system under one roof. In 1606 the court moved across the river to its present location until 1608, when it moved back across the Liffey to the grounds of Christ Church Cathedral. It wasn't until 1775, when the Courts were in ruins that a decision was made to build a new structure. This workstarted in 1776 was based on the designs of James Gandon.
