Опис

Lantern slide of Kilstuithin beach at Liscannor Bay, Co. Clare. Originally catalogued with labels 'C3 19', 'T. Mason, 5, Dame Street, Dublin' and 'Kilstuithin, Co. Clare 18-'. Depicted is a view of Kilstuithin beach, Co. Clare. The rock formations at Kilstuithin beach have lent themselves to a number of folk tales. One such story tells that the magic island at Kilstuithin was sank beneath the waters of the bay following a fierce battle between the three sons of Turrolbh mac Stairn and the three chieftain brothers of chiefs of the Corcomodruad tribe (in Corcomroe). It is said that the island reappears with evil omen to the beholder once every seven years. Also known as: Stuithin, Kilstapheen. The exact postion on Kilstuithin Beach could not be established.
