Descrição

Lantern slide of an illustration of the Four Courts, Co. Dublin. Originally catalogued with labels 'D3VIII 5' and 'T. Mason, 5, Dame Street, Dublin.' Depicts a drawing of the Fourt Courts building as it would have appeared when it was originally built in the 18th century. The illustration shows the court building as it stood beside the Liffey, with figures and boats also visible beside and on the water. The Four Courts were built between 1786 and 1796, from the designs of Thomas Cooley and, after Cooley's death, James Gandon. The historical building was almost wholly destroyed during the civil war in 1922, but was rebuilt in 1932 with some changes to Gandon's original design.
