Description
Lantern slide of an illustration of a statue of King William III, Dublin. Originally labeled 'D3 IV 68' and without a title. This statue of William of Orange was created by Grinling Gibbons. It was located on College Green from 1701 until it was removed in 1928 after being damaged by an explosion. Throughout its history, it had alway been a target for vandals. In 1710 a group of students from Trinity College Dublin, covered the statue with mud and stole its sceptre. Various people can be seen standing around the monument.
