Descrição

Lantern slide of a promontory fort, Drumanagh, Co. Dublin. Originally labeled 'D3 II 79' with the title 'Drumanagh Fort Co. Dublin 1921.' This promontory fort lies on a relatively flat site. Its inner bank is the best preserved rampart, with the others in poor condition. On the western side there are three earthen-banks, each with a ditch situated in front. The c.1804 Martello Tower is located at the eastern end of the promontory. Coast promontory forts such as this date from the prehistoric period onwards.
