Beskrivelse
Lantern slide of the Archiepiscopal Palace, Tallaght, Co. Dublin. The castle was built by the Anglo Normans in 1324. Unfortunately by 1729 it had fallen into ruin and was demolished. By this time, most of the land was controlled by the Archbishop of Dublin. A palace was built at the old site of the castle, and became the residence of Archbishop Hoadly, Archbishop of Dublin. By 1821, the site had fallen into ruin once more and was demolished. There is an inscription on the slide that reads 'To his grace Eusery, Lord Archbishop of Dublin &c. &c. This view of the ancient Archiepiscopal Palace of Tallaght, in the County of Dublin. Drawn by C.V. Fielding from a sketch by F. Byrne.'
