Description
Lantern slide of a plan of St. Doulagh's Church, Co. Dublin. Originally labeled 'D3 II 67' and with the title 'RSAI S. Doulough's Co. Dub.' The current structure has undergone many building phases, with the earliest section being the east end dating to the mid-twelfth century This section has a stone vaulted roof and contains a croft. The church is rectangular in shape, and has a 15th century central tower that projects over the roofline. There is a 13th century window at the east side of the building with tracery and sandstone jambs. The earliest reference of St. Doulagh can be found in the 9th century Martyrology of Oengus. The slide depicts a plan of the chapel. Features highlighted include a tomb recess, aumbrey and piscine.
