Description
Lantern slide of a high cross, Co. Dublin. Originally labeled 'D3 II 46' and with the title '153. Front Finglas.' This high cross has been located in the entrance of the St. Canice's Graveyard since 1806, and before that, at Watery Lane. It is likely that cross was erected by the Monks in Finglas in the 9th/10th century. It is made of granite and contains a square plinth with roll molding. There is some decoration on the arms of the cross, which travel down the shaft. The south side of the cross is sculpted with animal-like figures.
