Description

Lantern slide of a drawing of the Sheds, Clontarf. Originally labeled 'D3 II 17' with title 'The Sheds Clontarf 1785.' This image was engraved in aquatint by T. Malton, 1785. The Sheds was the location of a major fish-curing industry. During the 18th-century the area developed into a larger settlement, with fishermen, farmers and modest living quarters. Some buildings, along with a ship and people are present in the drawing.
