Beschreibung

Lantern slide of a carved stone figure, Killadeas, Co. Fermanagh. Originally labeled as '58 F' with title 'Killadeas 6.' This stone is carved on the west side (pictured) with a human head and on the south side with a portrait of an Ecclesiastic who is either a bishop or an abbott. It would appear that these carvings have two diferent dates and would have had different purposes before it found its place in Killadeas. This human face has been carved in high relief and display a great deal of expression. At either side of the mouth are grooves which slope downwards thus dividing the chin and the cheeks. Below the head is a panel with an interlaced design. See JSRAI, Seventh Series, Vol. 5, pp. 23-33
