Subject

Romanesque
Arched Doorway

Description

Lantern slide of a drawing of a Romanesque doorway at White Island, Co. Fermanagh. Originally labeled '1 F' with title 'White Island Co. Fermanagh.' The drawing is of a doorway of a 12th century ruined church found on the island. There is a carved stone figure set into the wall. The use of this figure as a wall stone would suggest it predates the church to the early stages of the monastic settlement.
