Description

Lantern slide of Teampull na Naomh, Inchagoill, Co. Galway. Originally labeled 'Inchagoill.' This church is only a short distance SE of the Church of St. Patrick. Like the former, it comprises of a nave and choir. The Romanesque doorway in the slide is found on the west gable and is made from a reddish sandstone and consists of three concentric arches. The jambs are made from columnar pilasters, which are topped by human-faced capitals. There is a variation in the style of hair sculpted on the heads which include some beard platting and a knotted hair design.
