Description
Lantern slide of a detail taken from an antique map of Galway City, Co. Galway. Originally labeled 605 G' with title 'St. Augustine's Galway from Map 1651.' This reproduction of a 17th century pictorial map of Galway city was created by James Hardiman in 1820 and published in The History of the Town and County of the Town of Galway. Hardiman was actually the first to lay the foundation stone of the church in 1855. After four years the neo-gothic church opened for service.
