King Edgars Bed and Effigy on the back of the field called the close, near the Hambridge, Chester; Engraving of same from Brittans Antiquities making it out a Roman Antique

The Effigy bears marks of having been painted in Fresco - Body of the figure and the ground on thick it is carved - pale greenish, yellow or canary color; Dress below the shield - yellow ocher, garment enveloping the legs - light blue, shoes - black, cap - dark blue, a Black rim of paint all round the inner margin of the arch and Pillasters, Pillasters and base - yellow;
